अगर आपने अभी तक नहीं किया ये काम तो फिर 31 दिसंबर से पहले इसको दाखिल करके कम से कम पांच हजार रुपये का जुर्माना बचा सकते हैं. गौरतलब है कि असेसमेंट ईयर 2019-20 और वित्त वर्ष 2018-19 का आयकर रिटर्न भरने की आखिरी तारीख 31 अगस्त की है. 31 अगस्त तक अगर किसी व्यक्ति ने आईटीआर नहीं भरा है तो फिर वो पांच हजार रुपये का जुर्माना देकर अपना रिटर्न 31 दिसंबर 2019 तक दाखिल कर सकता है। वहीं एक जनवरी 2020 से लेकर के 31 मार्च 2020 तक रिटर्न दाखिल करने पर 10 हजार रुपये का जुर्माना लगेगा. 

आयकर अधिनियम 1961 के सेक्शन 234F के तहत 31 दिसंबर 2019 तक रिटर्न फाइल करने वाले को 5,000 रुपये तथा इसके बाद रिटर्न फाइल करने वालों को 10,000 रुपये की पेनल्टी देनी पड़ेगी। 

अगर आईटीआर फाइल करने वाले की कुल आय पांच लाख रुपये है तो विलम्बित आईटीआर के लिए पेनल्टी 1,000 रुपये है. ध्यान रहे कि अगर किसी व्यक्ति की ग्रॉस टोटल इनकम टैक्स छूट की सीमा को पार नहीं करती है तो उसे 31 अगस्त 2019 के बाद और 31 मार्च 2020 तक आईटीआर फाइल करने पर भी लेट फाइन नहीं देना होगा.

सरकार के तमाम प्रयासों से इस बार 31 अगस्त तक रिकॉर्ड संख्या में करदाताओं ने रिटर्न भरा है, लेकिन इसमें से एक तिहाई से भी ज्यादा करदाताओं ने रिटर्न फॉर्म को सत्यापित नहीं कराया है. ऐसे फॉर्म को आयकर विभाग निरस्त कर सकता है और ऐसे में रिफंड का भुगतान भी नहीं किया जाएगा.

आयकर विभाग के आधिकारिक आंकड़ों के अनुसार, इस बार तय तिथि तक रिकॉर्ड 5.65 करोड़ लोगों ने रिटर्न दाखिल किया है. जिनमें से महज 3.61 करोड़ ने ही अपने रिटर्न को सत्यापित कराया है जबकि 2.04 करोड़ लोग सत्यापन नहीं कर सके हैं. आयकर कानून के तहत ऐसे में उनका रिटर्न अधूरा माना जाएगा और विभाग भी इसे रद्द कर सकता है. अगर आपने भी अपना रिटर्न फॉर्म सत्यापित नहीं कराया है तो जल्द ऑनलाइन या दस्तावेज भेजकर ऑफलाइन तरीके से काम पूरा कर सकते हैं. आयकर विभाग ने ऑनलाइन सत्यापन के लिए अपने पोर्टल पर नई सुविधा शुरू की है, जिसमें लॉग-इन करने की भी जरूरत नहीं पड़ती है।
